I feel like it has all led to this....

While so many of my content creator friends with large platforms have decided to “stay out of politics,” nothing has felt clearer to me: this is why I have these platforms. There is nothing that could possibly be more important for which to use them. While I have ALWAYS loved the community that’s formed over on instagram and the podcast, these past few months, something just hits different and deeper. I’ve had around 50,000 unfollows on IG, and I honestly could not even pretend to know how podcast listeners unsubscribed. I'm going to be dramatic here, but please just let me have my moment and then we can all move on with our lives. It was gut wrenching to see what had taken six years to build start to unravel so damn fast. There have been moments in which I've wondered if my friends were right for steering clear of all the chaos. My brand deals fell through, and for a month or two, our download statistics withered (they've since replenished with new listeners, but that shit was stressful), and simultaneously, Instagram was so obviously suppressing left-leaning content. Add that to the hundreds (thousands??) of nasty (sometimes threatening), comments, messages, reviews, and emails, and it's easy to see why people avoid speaking up.

But when Adam and I started Marriage and Martinis, we made a pact - to each other and to ourselves: we would say it all. And we have. Before this, I'd been called a terrible mother for an array of ridiculous reasons: I curse too much, I promote female pleasure and "obscene" products, and I supported and embraced my gay daughter from the moment she came out rather than "seeking help" for her. During the rise of the Black Lives Matter movement, I was labeled a, "virtue signaler" for using my platform to highlight injustices and racial inequality. I've also repeatedly dealt with aggressive backlash while advocating for common sense gun legislation. The list goes on. Yet I've felt most true to myself when I wasn't holding back. Many content creators whom I've engaged in discussions with following the 2024 election, have said, "I've spent years building this platform. I don't want to take a chance and lose what I've worked so hard to create," and trust me, I totally get that. Social media is an around the clock gig, with zero manual, no guarantees, no steady income, and a whole lot of stress.

I've held strong to my stance, though, repeatedly listening to my gut profess

"wait....maybe I've actually been building this platform for this exact moment." Have there been a number of times when I've been jealous of those who chose to stay away from the controversy and division? Absolutely. But there has also been something so organic and obvious about the shifts that have occurred on my platforms. And the payoff? I feel so proud of and connected with my content, the community, the fresh bonds I've made to new creators whom I otherwise would have never met, and thousands of listeners and IG followers who've taken the time to voice gratitude and solidarity. Most of all, my sense of inner peace, and the reflection I see in the mirror. I can show up each day not feeling like I need to hide. This has always been the objective, and I think this is the core reason that our podcast and my social media platforms have been successful and relatable.

Now that the connections between "everyday life" and politics seem particularly enmeshed and boldly overt, I know that I made the correct choice - the ONLY choice. There is no way I could show up each day, pretending that my heart wasn't breaking, my soul wasn't crushed, and I wasn't fearful AF. My commitment to the people I was meeting virtually became stronger, my urge to show up regularly deepened, and my purpose became clearer. Now, I know what the next step is. I love my social media community. I am overwhelmingly grateful for the shift that has taken place, and the fact that the community that's recently formed is aligned overall concerning ideals and values. And while I want to make sure I continue showing up on all of my platforms, I know that there's a collective desire and necessity for deeper, intimate, more goal-oriented, supportive spaces, without the constant harmful rhetoric (and downright dumbfuckery, let's be honest), bots, and chaos. Somewhere calming yet energetic; creative yet fact-oriented; joyous yet aware; concentrated on a larger purpose yet cozy and vulnerable. A place to leave the world behind while feeling even more awake, and embracing our wild, together. Welcome to the 3AM Uprising. Never have I been more excited and more certain about anything to which I've dedicated myself, than I am about forming this community. I am thrilled to share it with you.

What happens after I sign up and make my payment?

If you sign up and pay for your first month of membership during the pre-launch, you will be placed in a "waiting area," until the gates open up on Friday, April 25th. At that time, the first 40 people who've joined (the Midnight Misfits) will be able to create their profile, "introduce" themself, and start experiencing all the incredible features of our network. There will be a "welcome checklist" to guide members through the simple, fun process of getting set up and navigating the many different ways to use and enjoy the platform. Start meeting other members, and even begin to form bonds and engage in chats, polls, help choose our first book for book club, and more! Then, on Sunday, April 27th, at 7 pm EST., we will have our very first virtual event: an informative, interactive, fun kick-off celebration (more about this to come via email and directly on the platform). After that, we will move forward, together, building a community that best suits all of our needs, bonds us to women we otherwise would never meet, braoden and deepen our understanding of and involvement in activism, become better allies, challenge ourselves, and support one another in ALL aspects of life.

What happens if I'm not among the first 40 members to sign up?

Those of you who've been around awhile, via the podcast and/or social media, know that I'm extremely upfront and honest. I want to limit the sign-ups to 40 at first, because while I have been working like crazy to curate this experience to make it the most impactful, useful, fun, unique and engaging possible, this is my first time using this platform, and I want to ensure that phase one is a success for everyone! I think that the best way to do this, on behalf of everyone, is to lay a strong foundation in a manner that's incremental and realistic. However, this platform is built with the intentions of being large in space, intimate in experience, and offers experiences and opportunities to ensure that EVERY voice is heard, and every member is uniquely valued. Once the initial launch occurs, more members will gain access within a few weeks, and it will be a process after that. A few days after you sign up and make payment, you'll receive an email updates with letting you know when you can expect to gain access the community. If you sign up before the launch on April 27th, you will still receive the pre-launch package and price. You will also be gauranteed to gain access before June 1st. If you join after April 27th, the price will increase, and future members will remain on a waitlist until space opens up for them. I will have more information about this in the coming weeks, and once the launch has occurred.

Have more questions?

Who is the ideal member?

If you are a woman (biological or identifying) who is feeling anxious during this difficult time in our country (and the world), and possess a deep craving for a space and outlet to nurture an inner desire to make an impact, form connections with like-minded people, and navigate all different aspects of life when everything is feeling extra heavy, then this community needs you as much as you need it. My greatest hope is that we'll bring women of different generations, backgrounds and lifestyles together, creating a beautiful mosaic of sisterhood and safety (I can feel my teenage kids cringing from miles away, but I really mean it). Whether you're in your 20s or 80s, WE NEED YOUR VOICE, KNOWLEDGE AND SPIRIT! If you've ever listened to our podcast or followed Marriage and Martinis on social media while nodding along in solidarity (and even disagreed at times or viewed some of the content from an alternate perspective), you'll most likely love The 3AM Uprising.

I'm a private person. How can I be sure that my information, political affiliations, and personal details about my life won't be accessed or shared?

What will my "obligations" be as a member?

How long is a "subscription" membership?

I'm not that comfortable with technology. What if I can't navigate the platform?

I would love to bring friends or family members to some of the livestream events. Is that allowed?

Joining now means you'll be in it with me from the ground up. I'll be asking for feedback, suggestions, and even input for our shortterm activism-related goals, our first book for book club, which experts we'll be having in upcoming workshops, etc. So, you'll have a true voice and say in the final touches before we open the doors to the next group! Since I shared the fact that I was creating this community (I've only shared it twice in Instagram stories, and once briefly on a podcast episode, I have had dozens of people sign up for updates. I will not be sharing it on my facebook feed yet, because I want people who already know about it to have the chance before I share with a broader audience. I'm so incredibly excited, proud, and optimistic that coming together in this capacity is going to give us each the boost, "village," and extra layer of safety, and soft landing we all need right now. I cannot wait to see what we're capable of achieving, and how we'll impact each other's lives, and do our small but impactful part to help save and restore the soul of our nation, and keep humanity humane.

xoxo

Danielle
